A bit of glitter

My favourite 1 euro coat - Dublin charity shop
Glitter pumps - Zara sale, present
Beret - Dunnes
Scarf - Primark
Vintage handbag - from my Mum

Well, my husband has relocated after a very lovely Valentine's together (a delicious homecooked meal definitely beats the top restaurants hands down on the pile-'em-in night that February 14th has become). I was allowed to choose two gifts amidst all the last-minute packing panic - these gorgeous glittery pumps and a...... TURBAN! Yes! And both on sale - I am thrifty in the hints I drop too! I've been hankering after a turban for ages.... they are so very Elizabeth Taylor. This one is knitted, so nice and warm for those still nippy days.

Turban - Topshop online sale
Vintage shawl - Dublin charity shop

Anyway, I've been happily jazzing up all my old bits and pieces with these new items: it's amazing how a bit of glitter can go a long way to cheering you up.

 Dress - Zara sale
Shoes - as before
Cardi - Calvin Klein, via TK Maxx

Dress, shawl, turban & cardi - as before
Aubergine waistcoat - Dublin charity shop
Aubergine tights - Topshop sale
Leather shoes - Zara sale

Actually, Zara's pretty good for shoes I find - when they're on sale that is.... I think full price these leather lace-ups were 50 euro (!), but I am a patient admirer and got them in the end of season sale for something like 15 quid.

But all bargains are relative and pale in comparison to the beauties I find for 1 euro, like my much-loved coat above. A more recent 1 euro vintage find was this navy pleated midi. What's more, it will outlast its high street counterparts. If you're ever in Paris, the vintage emporium Free'p'star, which now has three stores, has massive bins of 1 euro bargains where you can have hours of fun fighting with other women and following them around until they leave back the coat/skirt/dress that is rightfully yours (they may well - French girls tend to be admirably frugal and pragmatic in a sort of anti-disposable fashion way).

 Vintage skirt - Free'p'star, Paris
Vintage bag - Dublin charity shop
Boots - Primark
Tshirt - Primark
Glitter belt - gift from a friend's clearout
Cardi - as before

Hope you all had lovely Valentine and Pancake celebrations (greetings from the land of the crêpe)!

  9. The zara shoes are lovely, i've been wanting a pair of brogue style shoes for ages but haven't found any that are comfortable. I have stuck to ballet flats for now! But I continue my quest for the perfect pair of brogues! x
